VickyWangechi Wangari is a PhD candidate in Highway and Railway Engineeringat Beijing JiaotongUniversity, where she also earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.Her research focuses on quantifyingand modeling carbon emissions across the full life cycle of transportationinfrastructure, particularly in bridge and highway construction. Sheapplies tools such as openLCAand LEAPto analyze materialproduction, logistics, and machinery operations, developing scenario-based modelsthat support low-carbondecision-making in engineering design and policy.

Vickyis a GraduateEngineer registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) anda Student Member ofthe American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Beginning October 2025, shewill serve as an expertreviewer for the First Order Draft of the IPCC Special Report on Climate Changeand Cities (SRCITIES) and join the Global Shapers Beijing II Hubunder the WorldEconomic Forum (WEF).
